Euphoria Loves RAWvolution Saved With The Help of Cafe Gratitude
And here we thought all that “I am Open-Hearted” and “I am Magical” jive at Cafe Gratitude was just a way to sell uncooked enchiladas to young, urban, and professional yoga devotees. It turns out the crunchy cult chain of raw food restaurants really puts its money where its mouth is when it comes time to being kind to others. Despite being a prime competitor of Santa Monica’s Euphoria loves Rawvolution cafe, Cafe Gratittude was one of the instrumental backers of a local movement to save the raw vegan gourmet restaurant on Main Street after its landlord threatened to replace it with a corporate coffee chain.
After owners sounded a cry for help this past winter, neighbors and fans started an Indiegogo campaign to raise $30,000 for owners Janabai Amsden and chef Matt Amsden to keep RAWvolution on the street, with Gratitude showing early support through Facebook and Twitter. The hippe-dippy San Francisco import also donated profits from its best-selling item to aid RAWvolution’s cause.
According to a press release via PR Wire, RAWvolution’s fans racked up the money necessary to keep the restaurant afloat, leading to Gratitude donating its saved funds to Rose Avenue’s Bread and Roses food program for the homeless instead. Suddenly, “we feel all warm and cuddly.”
